The vagus nerve is the longest of the cranial nerves. Its functions contribute to the autonomic nervous system. These include sensory, motor and parasympathetic functions. Most notably, the vagus nerve affects blood pressure, heart rate, calmness, relaxation, alertness, and digestion. Moreover, of particular significance to health, one has to look at its role in inflammation. Mounting evidence suggests a common underlying cause of major degenerative diseases is inflammation. Observational studies and laboratory research suggests that inflammation can be a causative factor in many diseases. These include coronary disease, diabetes, cancer, colitis, Alzheimers, autoimmune disorders, just to name a few. Transdermal nerve stimulation with electroacupuncture is currently endorsed by WHO to control pain and inflammation. Furthermore, research shows that acupuncture can specifically stimulate the vagus nerve. Auricular or “ear acupuncture” and some body points are effective in stimulating this nerve. This can address healing such disorders as: • Depression • SIBO • Anxiety • Panic Attacks • Tinnitus • IBS • Weight Gain • Diabetes • Chronic Fatigue • Migraines • MS • Rheumatoid Arthritis Acupuncture can significantly modulate pro inflammatory cytokines, lessoning the inflammation response. In addition, Neuroimmunogenic regulation of inflammation further provides insights into studies on how brain activity affects mind body health. For instance, meditation has been reported to increase vagus nerve activity. This “wanderer” nerve that runs from your brain all the way to your gut is known as a remarkable internal sensory system. This system includes your emotions. “I felt it in my gut”, is derived from this. Science is just now starting to realize the importance of emotions on health. For any disease, for true healing to occur, the emotional undertone needs to be addressed. Working with the electrodynamic field, acupuncture and increasing vagus tone is a natural safe way to regulate emotions, specifically, suppressed emotions. This will lead to true health because all of the bodies: spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical have to be aligned. Many Blessings, Jennifer

There are a lot of benefits of acupuncture. Most are stated here in your blog. Though I have never tried it because I'm afraid of needle and blood. I have seen my father getting acupuncture, seeing him bleeding, though it's just a small amount of blood, it made my knees shake. Up to this day, I can't convince myself to try it because of my fear. I hope I can gather strength to try and gain the benefits I can get.
